Biography of Ramón Valdés and his addiction to tobacco

He was born in Mexico City on September 2, 1923. His parents were Rafael Valdés Gómez, customs agent, and Guadalupe Castillo, who was a housewife. All the children of the marriage had its own nickname, and thus, Ramon was known as "Moncho".
Valdes performed in more than 50 films, beside his brother Tin Tan (most of time), Pedro Infante and Cantinflas, among others. The 1940s and 1950s represented the time of gold of the Mexican cinema, a period of splendour in the cinema in that country which, however, did not benefit much to Valdes.
In addition to his forays into cinema, always the life had won also with simple crafts (ironically, as well as his famous character back, Don Ramon).
In 1968 he began to work in the series Los Supergenios of the square table, along with Rubén Aguirre and María Antonieta de las Nieves. In 1972, that program became Chespirito, which lasted until 1973 the first released version.

In 1971, Valdes, who had entered into friendship with "Chespirito", became a part of the comedy El Chavo del Ocho, directed by Gómez Bolaños, which embodied the role of don Ramon, a resident of the neighborhood characterized by its laziness and its eternal confrontation with Mr Bradshaw and Doña Florinda, although it was a character of great heart and tenderness. Gómez Bolaños offered the character thinking that it was the ideal actor to give life, since his idea was Valdes to act as I used to be on a daily or as specified you Gomez Bolanos "be yourself", so its popularity was consolidated and grew up to dimensions that never got in other projects.
Don Ramon had a daughter (Chilindrina, played by María Antonieta de las Nieves), a neighbor in love with him (Doña Cleotilde, played by Angelines Fernández) and another neighbor who always ended slapped him (Doña Florinda, played by Florinda Meza) for defending his son Quico (played by Carlos Villagrán).

Valdes had a strong tobacco addiction and used to smoke even during the filming of the various programmes of Chespirito, which caused her stomach cancer, which was detected him at the beginning of the 1980s. Around 1985, he underwent stomach surgery to reduce it to the third party; However, the cancer had metastasized with his spinal cord. For that reason, it was medically evicted and received only certain palliative care over the next three years of his life.

Even with the weight of the disease, continued touring with his circus, entertaining children, who felt attachment for it. Peru would be the last country that would visit outside Mexico, because there you feel a worsening of their disease, which would force it to return. His task with his circus and comedy "Ah Kiko!" program would remain unfinished due to that evil. All this took place in 1987.

His agony felt among their more relatives, including fellow of the series of Chespirito, Angelines Fernández, Carlos Villagrán, Edgar Vivar and Rubén Aguirre. After two weeks of being sedated to prevent pain, died on August 9, 1988 at the age of 64, consequence of stomach cancer that expanded you (metastasis) to the spine.
